Carbon fibers (carbon fibers, Engl.: Carbon fiber) are industrially produced carbon fiber from raw materials caused by pyrolysis in graphitartig arranged carbon converted.

Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP-C for Carbon = carbon) defines a fiber-plastic composite material, which in a matrix (for example, plastic) carbon fibers, usually in multiple layers, as a reinforcement embedded.

Terminology:

  • CRP (C for Carbon) = carbon fiber reinforced plastic
  • Karbon = German spelling for Carbon
  • Kohlefaser = eng. Carbon fiber
